Scholarship: Humanists and Humanist Circles in Spoleto

The Accademia degli Ottusi (Academy of the Obtuse Ones) in Spoleto, formerly known as the Accademia Spoletina, in collaboration with the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici of the University of Rome Roma Tre and The Marignoli di Montecorona Foundation, intends to foster research carried out by young scholars by offering a one-year-long research grant to Italian or non-Italian nationals holding a master’s or doctorate in history, art history, philosophy, philology and literature on the following topic: Humanists and Humanist Circles in Spoleto. More specifically, the research to be carried out should highlight the Renaissance humanists mentioned in the local archives variously linked to Spoleto either by birth, visits, or study interests. Particular emphasis should also be placed on the larger centres of power, other humanist and artistic groups, what such humanists did, their instituional roles, their intellectual/artistic production.
